What happens in the canyon, stays in the canyon
What starts in the city is settled in the canyons as Need for Speed: Carbon weaves a story line that players won't soon forget in locales that are as detailed as they are deadly. You and your crew must race in an all-out war for the city, risking everything to take over your rivals' neighborhoods one block at a time. Boldly expanding on the key features that have made the Need for Speed franchise a hit for more than a decade, Need for Speed: Carbon turns up the excitement and intensity by introducing all-new canyon racing. As the police turn up the heat, the battle ultimately shifts to Carbon Canyon, where territories and reputations can be lost on every perilous curve. With multiplayer racing and the most detailed Wii graphics and car customization tools ever, Need for Speed: Carbon is the ultimate next generation racing game.

Need for Speed: Carbon on the Nintendo Wii introduces the world to a whole new way to play Need for Speed. Offering the classic Need for Speed controls and immersive gameplay experience, with the addition of the Wii's unique controller scheme takes NFS Carbon gameplay to levels previously not possible. A simple yet intuitive control scheme using the Wii controllers, the player will instantly recognize and feel the physics differences between the extensive list of Muscle, Exotic, and Tuner cars, as they use their crew to win Canyon races, customize their cars using Autosculpt technology, and battle to take control of the streets of Palmont. A streamlined focus on game physics has resulted in a truly authentic racing experience, as each of the game's three distinct car classes have been designed to maximize differentiation and enhance performance.

Over 50 rides to drive and customize
Carbon offers more than 50 custom rides in three distinct classes: Tuner, Exotic, and Muscle -- each with unique attributes. Muscle are best on straightaways, of which there are precious few in Palmont. Need for Speed: Carbon gives you the power to design and tweak your car in every way - including over 300 different parts - using the ground-breaking new Autosculpt technology. As with other racing games you hold either end of the Wii Controller and tilt it to steer your car. If you'd rather not take the motion-control plunge EA thoughtfully provides five different steering configurations, including using the Nunchuk's analog stick. Our advice is to forget about old school -- the Wii Remote is the way to go. How did we ever enjoy racing games before it was invented?

Birds of a fuel-injected feather
New to Need for Speed in this generation are the three kinds of wingmen (and yes, that's what the game calls them). Scouts search for shortcuts. Blockers create distractions and slow rivals. Drafters give you a second of speed boost for every second you can stay behind them. All three also give you moral support via wireless communications. Scouts are most useful the first few times you run a course. Drafters are of limited use on Palmont's twisting thoroughfares. Practically indespensible are Blockers, who are always willing to lay their precious paint jobs on the line so you can cross the finish line first. Now that's true friendship.

In total, Need for Speed: Carbon takes racing on the Wii to the next generation, and never looks back. With extensive customization, multiplayer options, revolutionary control, and an intriguing story, owners of the Wii may not be able to put this title down for a long, long time.

The controls took some getting used to, but once you get the hang of it it all flows (which could be said of most Wii games). They actually give five or six different options of controls, so you can experiment and decide what feels most comfortable for you. I like the e-brake/oversteer/drift option, it adds a very fun element.

The cars are great, the racing is fun. The story is fun, and you can actually play through career mode a few times with various differences if you choose tuner, muscle, or exotic. I've always loved Need for Speed games, ever since I played the very first one on my PS1, and Carbon is a great addition to the line up.
best carbon ever

I have this game for PS2 and loved it. Drifting is my favorite part of this game however every aspect of it is great in my opinion. The only way it could be better is if it was trophy supported...
pretty excellent

Shorter game play is the largest failing, however nothing can satisfy all critics. I liked the blend of tuner exotic and muscle cars. I mean, why try to buy a fancy car in the real world when 20 minutes and some gaming skill can have you in a merc, or a viper? I liked this game, the physics are just arcade enough to keep it fun, the selection of cars is great, and even the story line is not annoying. Bottom line, I'd recommend it.
Fun Stuff,Fuuun Stuff

Need For Speed Carbon (NFSC) is a really fun game to play, it takes what made Most Wanted so good and takes it up a notch. In Carbon your character from Most Wanted is back and the story continues from where Most Wanted left off. You also get a nice live action cut scene explaining what happened before Most Wanted took place, this is perfect for people who missed out on Most Wanted.

Some noticeable changes from MW is drift races are now back, however they are much harder than before. Now if you hit a wall your drift is automatically finished, and you are encouraged (read: forced) to keep a drift VERY long in order to get a high enough multiplier to get enough points to win the drift. Cop chases have also been made more difficult in the later heats (3 and above) and can also be fun, yet frustrating if you get into a cop chase while in a race. New additions here are there are now Canyon Races that you have to do to beat the bosses, most of the time these races are easy but sometimes they can be a pain. You have to do the Canyon races in 2 parts, but say you fall off the canyon in the 2nd part, you have to restart from the beginning. The 2nd new addition is you now can take a Wingman into almost every race. You either get a drafter, scout,or blocker, but after about the halfway point the only useful one is a scout.

The story in Carbon is about the main character coming back to his hometown and clearing his name because of some events that forced him from his town 2 years ago. The cut-scenes are well done and are not too hilarious this time around. The ending is kind of daft and seems like a bad closer for a game the spanned a sequel. I can't say much more about the story because I'll probably give away some spoilers.

The graphics in Carbon aren't anything worth mentioning, there PS2-like but do the job for an arcade racer-no complaints from me. Racing in Carbon is the EXACT same as MW no changes at all.

If you haven't played Carbon yet, pick it up. Its very enjoyable!
